Many business owners come from their specialized background. While the deep expertise is exactly what makes them great at what they do and what gets the business off the ground in the first place, HR is often the one area they have had minimum or no experience with. As the organization scales and grows beyond the founders and co-founders, critical people foundations start to matter, and that is where Eugenie HR starts making the difference throughout the organization journey. 

We usually come in at the point a founder planning to hire their first employee, and stay alongside them as the team grows: 

1. Essential First Hire Setup (Getting It Right from Day One): We guide and support founders through their first hires, including the essential registrations and policies legally required before bringing someone on (e.g. WCB [WorkSafeBC for BC] and PIPA), along with employment agreements, job descriptions, and pay ranges that attract the right people and limit Common Law risk.

2. On-Demand HR Expertise (As-Needed): General HR guidance and support for day-to-day questions and the situations that come up as a team grows, such as conflict, performance, and end of employment, without a retainer. We always recommend legal counsel when a situation genuinely requires it.

3. Part-Time HR Department (Fractional, Ongoing): As the team scales (usually beyond the core team), we step in as organizations' trusted embedded HR department, running the day-to-day operations and proactively building for the future.

   This usually includes onboarding structure, employee handbooks, people development and performance frameworks, and a 12 to 24 month people roadmap, taking HR off the founder's plate so they can focus on growth and revenue.

4. HR for Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Specialist expertise through major transitions, including HR due diligence and talent mapping before a deal closes, post-acquisition people integration, and market entry into Canada
